Praying to God is important! God wants us to pray to Him, and He does things because we pray that He wouldn’t do otherwise. Our prayer can change things just as much as our actions do.
While there are lots of great ways to pray, the kind of prayer we will be talking about next Sunday is praying in church. It helps us to come together at church, to pray for one another, and to hear others pray. We can support other people’s prayers by silently agreeing with them (“Yes, God, please do what she asks” ) or adding to the prayer (“Yes, God, please bless Susie and her whole family as well” ).
Fourth Graders can pray out loud, too. You don’t have to use any special words or ways of praying. Remember, prayer is talking to God, not to anyone else. And a prayer does not have to be long to be real…it’s more important that you tell God what’s really on your heart, and in your own words.
Sunday we’ll talk about having a P.L.A.N. for prayer…a way to help you think of things to pray about. It stands for:
Hope to see you Sunday—and bring a friend!
