We are using our sunday school to focus on missions. Some things we are doing:
* adopting a country to focus on
* supporting a child in Haiti
* doing childrens ministry once a month
(using Sunday School to prepare for ministry)
* Using Operation World to focus our prayer time

If you would like more info, email me. Hope this helps

: Last week only one boy showed up for our high school class. The others were around church, but were off doing other things.
: This has been steadily getting worse and worse every week. I can't think what we're doing wrong. We have a skilled teacher,
: someone who spent 11 years teaching high school (and he's still interested in it enough to volunteer!!!). We are using a good
: curriculum from Augsburg Fortress, topic based, called YouthTalk. The kids say it's boring, but it's really the best one...at least
: that's what I thought. We are a fairly large church, yet we have only one pastor, and an intern from Seminary. We don't have a
: full-time youth minister as many churches our size have. We are in the middle of a building project, and the best room I could
: get for the high school is shared with the three-year-old preschool (we have a Lutheran day school). Obviously on Sunday morning,
: there are no 3-year olds in the room with them, but they have to sit on itty bitty chairs. Once our new facility comes on line
: they will have space of their own.
: Does anyone out there have any suggestions for us to try? At this point, we're willing to try just about anything. And we have about
: 9 weeks to go.

: TIA,

: Patricia Wilson
